Day 23 - Filling the Foundation V

Sunday, August 5, 2001. Today our task is to pour the gravel until it reaches the height we need it to before we start putting the foundation rocks. While the ground has a slight slope, at this point we need to level the surface so it is more or less flat. We're not going for perfection here, but we do need the walls to go up straight!

One accident that happened today was that Ari accidentally locked the keys in the truck. We were panicking for a while, as it was relatively early on Sunday morning and calling a locksmith would be very expensive. But in the end we did manage to open the truck by ourselves. How? Believe it or not, we managed to "fish" the key ring from the front seat using a long wire that we found on the land and a very small opening in one of the truck's windows!!

Terri is trying to smooth the surface of the gravel. Actually we found that a rake was really not working as well as doing it with our hands and feet.
