Day 25 -
Moving the Foundation Rocks I
Tuesday, August 7, 2001. We finally finished tamping and are ready to put some rocks on. So we started carrying the big rocks from the pile to the building site. This proved to be another time consuming process. Some of the rocks are just heavier than they look! Sometimes it is rather stressful because this is one part of the building process that can be quite dangerous. No rushing, no forcing - we move it by hand, one by one!

Terri is working with the level and the tamper to level the gravel surface.

Is it level? It doesn't have to be perfect but we do want flat surface where we put the rocks.

Tamping makes our arms sore, but you can really feel the difference before and after. Notice our tamper - it's a $12 table leg we bought in Home Depot. It's perfect for the job!

Ari's tackling the pile of big rocks. This part is like undoing a 3D puzzle. Which rock can I lift next?

Keep your back straight! You must be careful with this part so that you won't hurt your back!

Some of the rocks we moved. The pieces we need to put the puzzle back together.
