Day 69 - Building the Walls XXI

Thursday, January 10, 2002. Just a quick cobbing day on the northern wall, aiming to build up to the second window frame. We didn't quite put it in, but we did get close to the right height.

On the northern wall at 2.5 feet high, we put in a few small 2x12s to make a groove for the electric wiring. However we made a mistake of taking out the wood (to make the groove somewhere else) and trying to cob on top of it. Some of the grooves filled up because cob wasn't dry enough to hold up the pressure of putting on more on top of it. After looking at it, though, we decided that it's really OK because we're planning to build a cob bench in that area, as we'll have to add more to that wall to make up the back of the bench later anyway. We'll put the wiring there.

Terri eating lunch in what will be a cob bench seating area. The window frame helped make it feel even cozier than before. The window looks a bit high right now but when the floor is in the floor height will be 4 inches higher.
