Saturday, January 26, 2002. In a stark contrast to the last time (Terri's shoulder was sore, but it seems fine) we had something of a break through today. After making our first batch, Terri suggested that we try mixing cob individually. Usually mixing is considered a two-person job, although for very experienced cobbers doing it alone is certainly doable. So we spread a few of the tarps, dumped the ingredients and each of us mixed two batches of cob in a row. It didn't take us long to realize that mixing alone actually didn't take much longer than mixing together, and we were mixing cob in record times! We made six batches of cob and put in not one but two window frames. Yeah!
The two window frames we put in today. They are both on the south side, where the kitchen is going to be. We're using 2x12s to reserve space for the counter tops.
Looking at the eastern half of the house from the north. It takes less imagination now to see a house here.
The view of our kitchen area. Basically we will have counters in front of all those windows, with a range and a fridge in-between them. Needless to say, our wall space will be extremely limited, and we'll attempt to make the best use of them by putting in shelves and racks.
Another look at our kitchen.
