Day 76 - Building the Walls XXVIII

Sunday, January 27, 2002. Our bodies were rather sore today because we had such an intense cobbing session the previous day. But we resumed our "mass-alone-gob-cob" method and managed to mix up 4 batches of cob in the first one hour and 15 minutes. That's almost twice as much cob as we used to make in the same time frame. So we put in the sixth and the last of the major window frames. The entire eastern half of the house looks like nothing but window frames with some spaces between them. This is pretty exciting!

However then we realized that we didn't have plans in place for what to do between those window frames, or for that matter, any other wall spaces. In the other words, we built walls so fast that we made more walls than we expected to this weekend, and we were not prepared enough to move on to the new area. I guess we were victims of our own success. So instead of making more cob batches we spent time discussing details of the kitchen and dining area wall spaces. Ari also attempted to put in the first of his electric conduits. Next time we come out we'll have more planning done so that we can keep up with our new faster pace.

The view of all the window frames, although a couple on the southeastern end is covered up. We estimate that with our new cobbing method it'll only take one work day or so to fill up the spaces between those window frames. That means in 2 weeks or so our eastern half will all have 6 feet of wall!
