Day 78 -
Building the Walls XXX
Sunday, February 3, 2002. Today we tackle the northeastern corner, where we will have the sitting/dining area. We debated and debated what we wanted for this wall, but eventually we agreed that we wanted this portion to be pretty. So Ari suggested that we make a big decorative shelf.
Unlike yesterday, this space between the windows is a much bigger area. Including the left-overs from yesterday, we put 8 batches of cob in one day! But to our dismay we didn't like the final result at all. A big shelf with giant arch on top looked rather silly, almost like a toy house. We'll have to re-do this wall. The "Do It Twice" house is living up to its name, once again.

The two sides of the main door we finished yesterday. We think they are rather cool looking, with two sets of electrical boxes holding places for light switches on both sides.

Terri working on the northeastern corner, today's assignment. We mainly worked so that Terri put up the cob and Ari made more batches and did other smaller tasks. It's best to leave one person in charge of making and completing each shelf.

We didn't like the result inside, but we sure like looking at today's achievement from the outside! This is the northeastern corner, and with the space between the windows filled, the house's shape is starting to emerge.
