Day 84 -
Building the Walls XXXVI
Saturday, February 23, 2002. We hosted "Terri & Ari's Cob Wall Raising Party" today, and thanks to the beautiful weather, we had a great turn out. We had been saving the western wall, just for this day. The rest of the walls are like 6 feet high, but the western wall we left it at about 2.5. This side is the simplest of all -- no windows, no complicated wirings, so it's really suited for just a lot of people learning cob and having fun.
Here are the list of participants: Bryce, Tracy, Skylar (1 yr old), Melissa, Janet, Selwyn, Tom, Justin, Yu, Hana, Kai, Satomi, Takuma, Aya, Lorie, Ken, and Chris. Special thanks to Lorie who took most of today's pictures.

Janet and Melissa checking out their cob. Hmmm. Is it it almost ready for straw?

Kids playing in our sand pile. This has always been a great playground for little kids. We don't think we'll use all this sand for our first house, so we'll have to think of doing something good with our left-over sand.

Satomi, Justin and Yu working on a batch. These people have come out so often, they are now veterans.

Melissa, Janet, Selwyn and Tom checking out today's assignment. As you can see they're being a bit timid with their cobber's thumb -- but it took them no time to learn that they can really dig in with those!

Well, they got the right idea of how to do it!

Another look at today's progress. The wood pieces are for the water pipe, and we also put in a couple of conduits.
